We had a short Board meeting today to discuss our plans to go before the Town Council next week regarding our proposal for a new building here in town. We also took care of some quick business including the slated election of officers which will take place at our October meeting (tentatively scheduled for October 17th).
The group feels we have a great chance of convincing the Town of Pine Bluffs to accept our plans and get us into a new building. This will mean lower bills for them and a reduction in overhead for the Mayor, Bill Shane, who also runs the veterinary here in town. As once we are established in a facility large enough to handle it, we will be able to take in strays rather than having them sent to his vet office.
Also discussed were a few details regarding my research for the setup of a PayPal account for Gateway’s Needy Animals to use to accept donations through this site (and possibly others). When we receive the final authorization and paperwork from the IRS regarding our 501(3)c, we will be able to do so.
Please note the following events that are coming up (I am working on installing an events calendar on the site):
October 3rd we are working in conjunction with Marci at the Litl’ Bit of Love shelter in Carpenter and will host Elizabeth the Pet Psychic. If you are interested in getting an appointment, call or email us about it. She will be available for readings all day, by appointment, here in Pine Bluffs.
On October 10th, we will be in Kimball, Nebraska doing a Blessing of the Beasts with local ministers who will bless your animals. We and other local rescue groups will be there accepting donations and with pets ready for adoption.
On October 24th, we will be working with Litl’ Bit of Love to have the annual Dracupaws event at Murdoch’s Ranch Store in Cheyenne. We will be there all day and children, parents, and their pets are welcome to the store to have their picture taken with Count Dracula and an assortment of monstrous beasts. This is a fun event and will be very similar to our successful and popular Easterpaws event earlier this year (pictured; yep, that’s me in a bunny suit).
Thank you for your support of our rescue efforts! If you’re “connected,” come join us on Facebook and Twitter!
